One donor's story of generosity

“For I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me,” – Matthew 25:35

The gift of giving consistently

“I want to be the type of person,” says Matthew, a donor who gives monthly to TOLI, “who can meet the needs of someone in front of me and trust that the Lord will provide for what I give up. The Lord will fill the gap.”

Matthew Wilkinson works at an HVAC shop in Colorado Springs. He recently married his wife Lauren, and he’s building both a business and a family. In the middle of everyday life in Colorado, Matthew chooses to give to TOLI.

“I think TOLI is pretty inspiring. It’s the best example of what I’ve seen of leaving the edges of the field unharvested or not going twice to pick off the leftovers (Leviticus 23:22). I love that these microloans empower people to provide for themselves. That’s what we are built to do.”

In a recent interview, Matthew shared why he gives monthly to TOLI. He recognizes that everything belongs to God and that, through his giving, lives are transformed.

“Monthly giving is a really awesome thing. One time giving is great, but it’s hard to give. You have to make that decision over and over again. With monthly giving, you decide one time to be generous, and it’s just part of the budget. I don’t view it as my money. It doesn’t hurt anymore, which I think is good.

Because of TOLI’s sustainable model, loans get repaid and loaned out again. A dollar to TOLI does a lot more than any way I spend money. Other ways are just gone. Giving to TOLI is an investment that gives over and over again.”

Monthly giving is an amazing way to support TOLI. Matthew, and our community of 97 monthly givers, champion TOLI entrepreneurs around the world. They create a reliable income for the ministry that allows TOLI to dream bigger, grant more microloans, and reach more people with the Gospel.

Thank you, Matthew and Lauren, for fighting against global poverty with your time, prayers, and resources.

If you’ve been thinking about joining our monthly giving group – we call it The Able Community – we’d love to welcome you!

“When you reap the harvest of your land, do not reap to the very edges of your field or gather the gleanings of your harvest. Leave them for the poor and for the foreigner residing among you. I am the Lord your God.” – Leviticus 23:22
