Relief and restoration
COVID-19 HAS WREAKED HAVOC around the globe, but particularly in the vulnerable communities we serve. Restrictions have drastically reduced income and closed many businesses indefinitely. Many families are struggling to feed their families. Savings and inventory are depleted.
In response, we have expanded our normal programming to temporarily include relief measures and emergency assistance for TOLI families — carefully implemented through our trusted local ministry partners.
RELIEF, RESTORATION, AND ADAPTED CLIENT CARE*:
> Emergency food aid to TOLI clients' families
> Paid work opportunities through our Face Mask Project
> Loan payment deferment for clients in crisis
> More microloans when demand increases in the aftermath
> Perishable inventory replacement for select businesses upon reopening
> Enhanced client care through health safety education, free face masks, targeted client support, and adaptive business advice
> Bibles given to every client family through a new spiritual development initiative (read more here)

MORE About TOLI’s COVID-19 Relief efforts
We are blessed with highly effective local ministry partners who are already on the ground, serving vulnerable families in these difficult times. And together, right now, we're deploying resources in new ways to meet the needs of TOLI clients and their communities. Here's how:
1. We've hired current TOLI clients to sew FACE MASKS. More than 6,000 face masks have been produced by clients in our program who are seamstresses, providing them with much-needed income while helping communities stop the spread of coronavirus. Masks are handed out for free in villages and communities by our local partners along with important health safety guidance.
2. We're providing EMERGENCY RELIEF. Shuttered businesses, curfews, and lockdowns have quickly thrown many of our families into acute need. Through our Relief Initiative we’re providing:
Direct food support to households with critical food needs. Our local partners are providing a 3-4 week supply of staple food packages to needy clients
replacement of perishable inventory when businesses reopen
assistance with medical payments for COVID-related illness
3. Increased MICROLOAN PROGRAM FUNDING Our relief measures allow for loan repayment flexibility for clients unable to pay (temporary deferments and/or forgiveness of payments), as well as added microloan funding for new loans in order to meet anticipated increased demand in the aftermath of this crisis.
3. We're adapting CLIENT CARE. Our field staffers are checking in more frequently with clients, via cell phone if necessary, or safely socially distanced. They're giving extra spiritual support, adaptive business coaching, and health safety education.
